Marcus Armstrong
I am a videographer, director and editor currently doing freelance and contract work for small businesses and start-up companies. After graduating from University of Toronto with a degree in digital communications, I decided to follow my passion for filmmaking and embark on my freelance journey. Through networking and word of mouth I found out about Pathway 2 Industry, a program designed to help push the careers of young black individuals trying to find their footing within the film and entertainment industry, such as myself. I joined in 2018, and it was through this program that I was fortunate enough to work on set for a number projects such as the National Black Film Festival 2020 nominated documentary, Cool Black North and other productions of the sort. Since then I have taken the skills I’ve learned from this program and applied them to my own film career. I have worked on multiple different sets, met some amazing mentors and have even been able to create some of my own independent productions, and in January of this year (2020) I decided to start up my own media production company, Introspective Films. It is through Introspective Films that I aspire to continue growing my passion for visual storytelling while also expanding on my resources gained through years in the field, to one day be able to work on bigger and more ambitious projects.
